In the 27th match Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the fans witnessed an amazing display of pitch brilliance. Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a breathtaking catch to deny the opener Head of Travis.
After winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings opted to bat first, but the decision looked questionable early on as SRH openers. Abhishek Sharma and Bash attacked violently. The pair put together a quick-fire partnership of 75 runs in just 5.5 overs, putting CSK on the back foot and electrifying the Hyderabad crowd.
Ruturaj Gaikwad takes a fine catch to end Travis Head’s stay
The bounce finally arrived on the sixth ball and it came in spectacular fashion. Mukesh Choudhary attempted a wide yorker from around the wicket and Head mistimed the full toss trying to capitalize.
What followed was pure magic. Positioned inside the circle, Gaikwad timed the ball to perfection, lunged forward at full stretch and completed a sensational low catch inches off the ground. The CSK skipper immediately took a clean sweep and the dismissal provided a much-needed breakthrough.
While Gaikwad’s athleticism injected fresh energy into the CSK unit, Bash, who appeared in ominous contact, had to leave after a quick cameo.

SRH post a competitive total after a strong batting display
Despite losing momentum after the skipper’s dismissal, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to post a competitive total of 194/9 in 20 overs. The base was laid by the explosive Abhishek and he played some breathtaking shots. Abhishek smashed a 15-ball half-century and scored 59 off just 22 deliveries, smashing six fours and four powerful sixes. His fearless batting ensured SRH scored high during the power play.
Heinrich Klaasen He scored 59 runs off 39 balls and further stabilized the innings with a decisive knock. The former South African star mixed aggression with composure to guide SRH to a strong finish despite losing wickets regularly in the second half.
CSK bowlers struggle after early attack
Chennai Super Kings bowlers showed resilience after early hammering. Jamie Overton once again impressed with his goalkeeping skills. Although a bit expensive, conceding 37 runs in four overs, he took three crucial wickets to keep CSK in the race.
Mukesh also played a key role, claiming two wickets in his two overs, including the prized scalp of Bash. His clever variations and execution helped CSK regain control during the middle innings.
