Manchester City cruised to a dominant 0-3 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guéhi and Jérémy Doku securing the points.
Chelsea went into this clash in sixth place, looking to salvage their European ambitions after a difficult run of form. Manchester City came in second, determined to keep pace with the league leaders.
The first half turned out to be a tactical battle. Both sides battled to break the deadlock in a tense opening period.
The first disciplinary problems arose when Estevao was shown a yellow card by Chelsea in the 12th minute. City’s Abdukodir Semenyo followed him into the book shortly before the break.
Despite the cards, neither goalkeeper faced any significant danger before the break. The teams went to the locker room with the score tied at 0-0.
Management adjustments clearly favored the visitors at the break. Manchester City returned to the pitch with renewed intensity and sharper passing.
The breakthrough finally came in the 51st minute as Nico O’Reilly found the net, silencing the home crowd and shifting the momentum firmly to the visitors.
Just six minutes later, City doubled their lead. Marc Guéhi was up to the task, finding space to score in the 57th minute.
Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella was booked as the hosts’ frustration mounted. The Blues struggled to contain City’s fluid attacking moves.
Jérémy Doku effectively ended the game in the 68th minute. His goal put the visitors 0-3 ahead, leaving Chelsea with no way back into the game.
The stats highlighted City’s complete dominance of the match. The visitors enjoyed 65 percent possession and managed 18 shots in total, compared to Chelsea’s 12.
City outscored their opponents with an expected goals (xG) rating of 1.89 to Chelsea’s 1.14. Gianluigi Donnarumma kept things safe for the winners, making three saves.
This result keeps Manchester City firmly in the title race, while Chelsea remain in a precarious position for European qualification. The Blues need to regroup quickly to save their season.
