Amy Hunt-Dina Asher-Smith-Daryl Neita over 200m in London

The British trio will compete against each other in the semi-finals for the first time in a year.

Britain’s three biggest sprint stars will all run in the women’s 200m at this year’s London Diamond League (July 18).

Amy Hunt, Dina Asher-Smith and Daryl Neita lead the British challenge in a race that will almost certainly feature top-level international athletes.

The last two women’s 200m winners in London have been Olympic 200m champion Gabby Thomas (21.82) and Olympic 100m gold medalist Julien Alfred (21.71).

Hunt, the record-breaking youngster who was considered one of the most exciting young sprinters on the planet, has gone from strength to strength since moving from Great Britain to Italy in 2023.

His 200m silver at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo was the culmination of an impressive year which saw him lower his personal bests to 11.02 and 22.08 in the 100m and 200m respectively.

“London has such a special place in my heart and I’m incredibly excited to be back,” said the 23-year-old, who was part of last year’s London Diamond League-winning 4 x 100m relay team along with Asher-Smith, Neita and Desiree Henry.

“From watching the Jubilee Games as a kid and seeing my idols compete, to breaking my personal best of the past six years at the Olympic Stadium, I have so many incredible memories.

“Breaking my PB last year in front of such a loud and supportive home crowd was very emotional for me and such a privilege. London always brings with it vibes and buzz. It’s so magical and I can’t wait to get back out there and do it all again this year.”

Asher-Smith is the 2019 world 200m champion and also holds the British 100m (10.83) and 200m (21.88) records. He is also a multiple European champion in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay, as well as an Olympic and World relay medalist.

“I’m excited to be competing at the London Stadium again,” he said. “It’s always an honor and a privilege to compete in that special stadium and in front of the home crowd. I’m as excited as ever this year and can’t wait to see all the fans there.”

Neita, the 2024 European 200m silver medalist, is also an Olympic and world relay medalist. She is the second fastest British woman of all time over 100m with a time of 10.90 (behind Usher-Smith) and fourth over 200m in 22.16.

The last time they all met was in the over 200m final at last year’s British Athletics Championships, with Asher-Smith ahead of Amy Hunt (both clocking 22.14) and Nathan third in 22.30.

The London Diamond League, the world’s biggest one-day athletics event, is the eleventh round of the Diamond League calendar.
