“I think it’s the best moment for me to do it,” Gasquet told the French daily Team. “It’s the best tournament to do that. It’s great, we have the opportunity as French people to be able to stop at these kinds of incredible places.

“One end, it’s always complicated, all the former great players have always told me that it’s not easy to announce. You never know when, how, where. Here, in any case, it’s clear.”

Former world No. 7 Gasquet has won 605 matches, 16 ATP titles and more than $21 million in prize money during an illustrious 22-year career.

The man with the amazing one-handed backhand is a former world junior No.1.

Gasquet’s 605 career wins are the most by a Frenchman in the Open Era.

A two-time Wimbledon semifinalist, Gasquet also reached the final four of the US Open in 2013 and completed four seasons ranked inside the world’s Top 10
