The match saw Lecce, languishing in 18th place and battling relegation, host a high-flying Atalanta who were chasing European qualification from 7th position. Lecce came into the match on a poor run of form, while Atalanta looked to continue their climb up the table.
Atalanta started brightly, controlling possession and probing the Lecce defence. Their efforts paid off in the 29th minute when Giorgio Scalvini opened the scoring. Charles De Ketelaere provided a pinpoint assist, allowing Scalvini to guide the ball home.
Lecce struggled to create meaningful chances, failing to register a single shot on target for the entire half. His attempts were often blocked or deflected, failing to test the Atalanta goalkeeper.
Despite the early setback, Lecce tried to bounce back. However, Atalanta’s structured defense largely nullified any attacking threat. The visitors kept their cool and held a good lead at the break.
Lecce needed a major tactical change to turn the tide in the second half. Atalanta, meanwhile, looked set to add to their lead, with their attacking players finding their rhythm.
The second half started with a yellow card for Atalanta’s Berat Djimsiti in the 47th minute for a foul. Lecce made an early substitution, bringing on S. Fofana to provide fresh impetus.
Atalanta quickly doubled their lead, with Nikola Krstovic finding the back of the net in the 59th minute. Once again, Charles De Ketelaere was the provider, setting up Krstovic for a well-timed goal that further cemented Atalanta’s control.
The visitors continued their relentless attack. Giacomo Raspadori came off the bench and made an immediate impact, scoring Atalanta’s third goal in the 73rd minute. Mario Pasalic provided the assist, capping off a superb team move.
Lecce made more substitutions, but their efforts to break down Atalanta’s resolute defense proved futile. The game concluded with Atalanta in the lead, having managed the game with experience.
