In an interview with Moto.itFormer Aprilia engineer Giulio Bernardel was asked about Marco Bezzecchi and which legendary Aprilia rider he most resembles.

“No, they are very different, both in riding and in character, I barely know Marco Bezeci.

But from what I’ve seen of him on the track, he’s more like Valentino Rossi than Biaggi during interviews.

While the comparisons to Rossi are flattering, Bernardel is not impressed with Bezcicci’s current form to name him among the greatest Aprilia riders of all time.

When naming the most important riders in Aprilia’s history, Giulio Bernardale trumps Marco Bezecchi.

Speaking further in the interview, Bernardel was asked to name the greatest and most influential riders in Aprilia history. Bezzecchi did not make the list as he named Alessandro Gramigni, Max Biaggi and Valentino Rossi.

“The drivers of the 90s, in my opinion, are all important, because they are all drivers who created, as a result, the pride we feel.

“From Alessandro Gramigni, who won his first title, to Biaggi, who started a series of victories.

“And then, Valentino Rossi, he was definitely the most imaginary champion, right? In my opinion, it was a great honor for Aprilia to start a rider’s career that will remain in the history books.

“These are pilots who have done something really important and have had a greater impact than any other driver.”

There’s no denying the impact the aforementioned drivers have had on Aprilia. But Bezeci could make the list if he can win the world championship this season.
