The driver you can hit the furthest will not always be the one that goes the furthest in testing.
This may seem obvious, but it’s important here. Distance is related to your movement, your speed, your stroke, your launch conditions. Change any of these and the results can look very different.
That said, this is still one of the best places to start if you’re chasing distance.
In MyGolfSpy’s 2026 driver test, there were 42 drivers, 35 testers and more than 20,000 shots. Some models consistently produced more total distance than others. And when you look at the full data, the gap between the longest and shortest drivers was just over 15 yards.
That’s the difference between having a short iron versus something you have to work a little harder to control. Here are the longest vs. shortest leaders of 2026.

of Callaway Quantum Max finished as the longest driver in the 2026 test with an average total distance of 255.21 yards. He also produced 238.93 carry yards with just 2,114 spin rpm, a combination that led to strong spread and separation from the rest of the field.
What stands out is that this wasn’t just a distance-only driver. He also finished runner-up overall with a 9.1 MGS score and posted a 9.2 accuracy score. This is not always the case with taller drivers. Some give you speed, but come with compromises elsewhere.
The only real throwback here is the forgiveness, where it sat at 8.5. Not poor, just not elite compared to the best in that category.
It is also worth noting that the fastest driver in the test (Deputy Golf VGD01+ at 142.89 mph) was not the longest. This is a good reminder that ball speed alone does not guarantee distance, launch and spin still need to work.
Good alternatives if you are looking for distance:
Shortest total distance in 2026: COBRA OPTM Max-D

At the other end of the spectrum, COBRA OPTM Max-D finished at 240.00 yards of average total distance, the lowest in the test. Carry distance was also the lowest at 229.01 yards.
But here it is important not to oversimplify things.
of Max-D still performed well in forgiveness, posting an 8.9 score. So while it didn’t last the distance, it offered more durability than some of the longer options. This is the exchange you will see throughout this data. Distance almost always comes with something else attached.
Draw-biased or higher MOI drivers can help keep the ball in play, but they can also add spin or reduce the type of launch conditions needed to maximize total distance.

Final thoughts
Distance is one of the easiest things to rank on a driving test, but it’s rarely the only thing that matters.
of Callaway Quantum Max gave golfers the most total distance in 2026 and it held up well in accuracy. On the other hand, COBRA OPTM Max-D it was the shortest, but brought more forgiveness to the game.
If you’re looking for more yards, start with the longer options here. Just make sure you understand what you might be giving up to get them.
