The Indian Premier League 2026 The season has already produced surprises, with several big teams struggling to find early momentum. Among them, Chennai Super Kings despite their experienced foundations, they seemed somewhat out of sync. Ex-India all-rounder Irfan Pathan now hinting at a major concern in CSK’s campaign, identifying a key weakness that could derail their season if not addressed soon.
Irfan Pathan on the biggest worry for CSK in IPL 2026
Pathan feels that the biggest challenge for CSK right now is the poor form of the Afghan spinner Nur Ahmed. The young left-arm wrist spinner, who was expected to lead the team’s spin attack, has struggled to perform in IPL 2026.
In three matches so far, Noor is yet to score a wicket and has conceded runs at a worrying economy of 11.10. His most recent speech was opposed Royal Challengers Bengaluru At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, he leaked 49 runs in four overs without making any impact.
Pathan pointed out that Noor has bowled about 10 overs this season and conceded more than 100 runs without success, calling it a major setback for a team that relies heavily on spin control in the middle innings. He cited Noor’s lack of wickets and high save rate as CSK’s “biggest challenge” in the tournament so far.
“He (Noor) is CSK’s biggest problem right now. He has bowled around 10 overs this season and conceded more than 100 runs. He doesn’t have a single hit.” Pathan said on his YouTube channel.

Pathan suggests a technical arrangement
Pathan explained that Noor’s current approach angle affects his body alignment and ultimately his release. He noted that a spinner’s bowling arm collapses, reducing both control and efficiency.
As suggested by Pathan, the solution is relatively simple: adjust the angle of the run. Better alignment, he believes, will help Noor deliver the ball more upright, improve accuracy and give him a better chance of picking wickets.
Given Noor’s impressive record, including an IPL 2025 season in which he scored 24 wickets and finished as one of the top performers, there is still faith that he can turn things around quickly.
“I believe if he corrects his running angle, the alignment will improve and his hand that falls to one side will also straighten,” Pathan said.
