MELBOURNE (Australia, March 28). Two early season world bests and six meet records highlighted the first WACT Gold event of the season, the 2026 Maurie Plant Meet, despite the cold and chilly weather. Cameron Myers, 19, set the fastest time ever on Australian soil to win the John Land 1500m in 3:30.42 WL/MR ahead of Adam Spencer (3:37.51), while Germany’s Robert Farken DNFed after hitting the track after a collision. This is also the best outdoor 1500m time for January to April.

Jacory Patterson sealed his victory in the top bend of the 400m, setting a new WL/MR of 44.41 ahead of Luke Van Ratingen (45.03 PB), Thomas Reynolds (45.13 PB) and Reece Holder (45.16).

Nina Kennedy, in her first international appearance since 2024, cleared 472 MR (no further jumps) in her third attempt at three-quarters to beat Hannah Mol (456) and Amanda Mol (436).

Lachlan Kennedy made it two wins, clocking 10.03 (0.3) in his first 100m since July 2025 over Rohan Browning (10.25), and beating Gout in the Peter Norman Memorial 200m in a tough time 20.38 (-0.7) 20.34 (-0.7) 20 per minute.

Claudia Hollingsworth beat Georgia Hunter Bell (4:01.52) in the 1500m in 4:01.30 MR.

Nicola Ollislagers won the high jump with 195 on countback from U20 Isobel Lewison-Rowe (195 =PB), Matthew Denny (67.51) ahead of Great Britain’s Lawrence Okoye (65.09) and Roger Stona (64.60) and Luke 2805. U20 Daniel Williams (1:46.16) and the Netherlands’ Toni Van Diepen (1:46.19). Peter Ball left late the previous night with a fever.

A good 3000m time was Jackson Sharpe 7:41.02 MR ahead of Seth O’Donnell (7:41.11) and Ireland’s Brian Fay (7:42.85) and Rose Davies 8:45.13 ahead of Maudie Skyring (8:47.05) and Georgia 04. More wins Michelle Jenneke 100m hurdles 13.06 (1.2), Alex Epitropakis long jump 796 (1.8) PB beating Liam Adcock (794/-1.3), Sarah Carli 400m hurdles (56.08) Italy women’s discus (57.94).
