George Martin has one last option to stay with Aprilia in 2027 and that is to go down to the trackhouse.
Ahead of the 2026 MotoGP season, it was reported George Martin It was decided to go Aprilia And join Yamaha for the 2027 season when the new rules come in.
The report comes on the same day that Fabio Quattararo left Yamaha to jump ship to Honda for 2027, so it came as a knee jerk.
However, Yamaha’s poor form in the early rounds of the 2026 season, with the Apria winning the opening two Grands Prix of the year, may have left Martin regretting his decision to make the move so quickly.
It has been suggested that there is a possibility that Martin will remain in the Aprilia fold, but it is not realistic that Martin will fall back to the Satellite team.

Jorge Martin will not return to the satellite MotoGP team.
Season The MotoGP podcast of the raceSimon Patterson discusses Martin’s tenure as an Aprilia rider. Trackhouse Racing Garage.
However, Martin quickly dismissed the idea as ‘no way’ as he does not want to return to a satellite team as a title holder with Pramac in 2024.
Patterson said, “There’s no such thing as a hopeless Japanese MotoGP project when you go into a new control cycle, you’ll find a way out of it. Because of the budget, even Ducati and Aprilia are really jealous of the budget the Japanese manufacturers can throw at their MotoGP projects, that’s right.”
And that’s reflected in Martin’s new salary, which I think is probably three or four times what he’s getting at Aprilia. The only way Martin Aprilia stays is with the trackhouse, and any of us can see him riding a satellite bike. While I was there, I found the t-shirt, actually. So, yeah, that’s not going to happen.

Trackhouse Racing will not replace Ai O’Gura with Joan Mir.
During the same podcast, Patterson also discussed The possibility of Joan Mir moving from Honda to Trackhouse RacingAnd if the move happens, he will replace Raul Fernandez.
After taking off with the team at MotoGP in 2025 and improving throughout 2026, Ai Ogura looks set to be a lock at the Trackhouse for the 2027 MotoGP season.
Patterson said, “There’s this weird Joan Mir rumor coming up, and the reason I say weird is because if they sign Joan Mir, it’s coming at the expense of Raul Fernandez… I think it’s a matter of wires being crossed from what people assumed to be the reality.”
“That doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but right now it doesn’t seem like something that can be set in stone. And, I think they’ll do everything they can to keep Ogura on the other side of the box.”
