David Alonso led Moto2 World Championship practice on Friday afternoon at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas. Riding the CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team Calex on Pirelli Control tires, the Colombian lapped the 3.43-mile (5.51 km) course in 2:05.847 to lead the field of 28 riders, beating Manuel Gonzalez’s all-time lap record of 2:07.025.
Manuel Gonzalez was second best in the Liqui Moly Dynavolt IntactGP Calex with a time of 2:06.341.
Barry Baltes set third fastest 2:06.453 in the REDS Fantic Racing Kalex.
American Joe Roberts finished 10th in Friday afternoon’s practice with a best time of 2:06.853 for sole supporter American Racing Team Calex.

On the one hand, there was much excitement in the CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar team box on the opening day of Moto2 action at the United States Red Bull Grand Prix as David Alonso set a 2:05.847 to finish 0.494s clear of second-placed Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP). Barry Baltes (REDS Fantic Racing) finished practice in P3, 0.606s shy of Alonso, on the other side of the Aspar box, world championship leader Daniel Holgado will face Q1 for the second race of the weekend.
Alonso’s race rhythm and single-lap pace were impressive, with González – who crashed unscathed on the 1st lap of the closing stage – the only rider to get within #80 seconds. Philipp Salach (US Fans Only) was P4 ahead of fifth fastest Senna Agius (Licky Molly Dinavoult Intact GP), Tony Arbolino (REDS Fantic Racing) was good again in P6.
Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing) had a solid P10 finish on Friday for local fans to enjoy as they got their first American Auto Q2 entry this season, so the #16 rider of Holgado on Saturday afternoon at 13:40 local time.
