Paul Waring is a 41-year-old professional player who has never won in PGA Tour. In three tournament starts so far in 2026, he has missed three cuts. In 12 tournaments last season, he missed 10 cuts.
But as we head into Friday’s second round at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, Waring is on top. The veteran, who has won twice on the DP World Tour, shot a seven-under 63 in Round 1 at Memorial Park to take the lead by one stroke.
Great champion Gary Woodland is second solo, with three players, incl Sam Burnstied at five under with 54 holes to play.
Just a little further down in the leaderboard you will find Rickie FowlerT11 in three under. Fowler is making his last attempt to win one Masters 2026 invite this week. He must win or finish high enough to improve his world ranking from 61st to 50th.
