Summary of the season
The 2023-24 Premier League season saw Man City achieve a historic fourth consecutive title, the first in the history of English football. Despite strong competition from Arsenal and Liverpool, City clinched the championship on the final day, finishing with 91 points.
Haaland continued his brilliant form, securing the Golden Boot with 27 goals. At the other end of the table, all three promoted sides – Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town – faced relegation, marking the first time since the 1997/98 season that this has happened. The season also introduced a new stoppage time rule intended to reduce time wasting, resulting in longer added time and increased drama at the end of the game. Notable managerial changes included Jürgen Klopp announcing his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season and Roberto De Zerbi leaving Brighton & Hove Albion by mutual consent.
