World Indoor Champions go to Odisha in 2028 and Astana in 2030


World Athletics announces the venues for the next World Indoor Championships.

The 2028 World Indoor Championships will be held at the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha, Bhubaneswar, India, while the 2030 edition will be held at the Kazakhstan Athletics Indoor Stadium in Astana.

The events were awarded at the 240th meeting of the World Athletics Council in Torun, Poland, ahead of the World Indoor Championships.

Among the decisions made was the awarding of the 2028 World Athletics Team Championships to Hefei in China.

World Athletics President Seb Coe said. “In awarding Odisha and Astana the next two editions of these historic championships, I am delighted that World Indoors continues to go from strength to strength, captivating audiences around the world, and that our next two hosts reflect our strategy to take our events to emerging markets.”

2028 World Indoor Championships India will host the World Athletics Championships for the first time from March 3-5, 2028.

Odisha, India’s eastern state on the Bay of Bengal, hosted the Asian Championships in 2017, while the state also hosted the World Athletics Continental Tour bronze medal.
