Separate training time for the 2nd round
There will be many eyes on this week’s Valspar Championship Justin Thomas as he makes his way around the copper head course.
The two-time major champion played on the US Ryder Cup team last fall, but after that he disappeared from the golf scene until recently. The reason? Thomas submitted serious back surgery that kept him off the course for months.
He finally returned a few weeks ago at the Arnold Palmer Invitationalbut it was a struggle for the popular American professional. He shot 79-79 to miss the cut. Many feared his results would deteriorate further in last week’s Players Championship. But the opposite happened.
Thomas came out of nowhere to contend at TPC Sawgrass, eventually settling for a T8 finish. Now Thomas hopes to surpass that milestone in his 17th career PGA Tour wins at Valspar.
Thomas will begin the second round on Friday at 8:13 a.m. ET together Matt Fitzpatrick AND Sam Ryder.
