LAB Golf’s latest creations have hit the PGA Tour in new form Connect HS blades 2.1 and 2.2and our Fully Equipped team saw them for the first time this week at Bay Hill.
On this week’s episode of GOLF’s Fully Equipped, Johnny Wunder and Jake Morrow gave their first impressions of the new LAB flatsticks.
“Every angle you look at it, it looks a little funky,” Morrow said. “You just put it behind a ball and look at the address, beautiful.”
While we don’t have any details on the new equipment beyond the LAB Golf photos we’ve been given and those taken on Tour, we can see a few things in the design.
Most importantly, these devices have the most traditional shapes of any LAB model to date, especially when viewed from the address.
Custom LAB Golf OZ.1i HS Putter
It has a heel shaft. It’s still the LAB with the heel shaft have been around forever. There is no reason why they should not be balanced. The OZ.1i HS is the first lie angle balanced heel shaft putter, giving golfers the traditional look they love so much with the ease of use that defines LAB This isn’t just an OZ.1i with a different neck. Lie angle balance requires precision, so we re-engineered the OZ.1 i chassis for a no-compromise axle design. Our proprietary aluminum riser connects the shaft to the head in a way that maintains lie angle balance and delivers the same forgiveness as the OZ.1i. Golfers who prefer a heeled look no longer have to compromise on performance. And because it’s a LAB, you can rely on the individual build and balance of each device. With the OZ.1i HS, that’s not where the shaft goes. This is where the ball goes.

Perhaps most importantly, none of these magazines are center pivoted, instead incorporated LAB lifting area from OZ.1i HS. of The OZ.1i HS was LAB’s first non-center axis shooterand now the company seems poised to offer that look in two new blade shapes.
The 2.1 is a more traditional Anser style blade with very angular and boxy lines. Meanwhile, the 2.2 is LAB’s take on the modern widebody blade.
Both putters also have what appears to be a new face offering from LAB, a deep mill face that appears to be on a 303 stainless steel face (based on the markings on the machine). Previously, LAB only offered the flywheel in an aluminum insert or groove on the stainless steel face.
Morrow didn’t take any shots with Link’s new putts on the practice green at Bay Hill, but he’s ready to give them a shot when they hit retail.
“I’ll give the LAB Link 2 HS a legitimate run for the bag,” he said.
