The love Limited Edition Season.
It means many things. First, it means the launch season is over. Well, it’s almost over.
Second, it means that spring is almost here. After living through last week’s Snowmageddon here in New England, any hint of warmth, no matter how brief, feeds the soul.
And third, it means COBRA gets to flex her chops with limited edition.
No one, and I mean no one, makes limited edition drivers like COBRA. While their Masters-themed driver is always great and their US Open-themed driver will undoubtedly be as well, I love, love, love the fact that COBRA pays homage to Arnold Palmer and the Bay Hill Classic every year with an Arnie-themed driver.

COBRA GOLF x Arnold Palmer OPTM X Driver
This new limited edition driver is in every meaningful way exactly the same as the standard COBRA OPTM X driver released earlier this year. The only difference is the big one: everyone is dressed for Bay Hill.
COBRA has equipped Arnie Special (my words, not theirs. It fits, right?) in a sweet navy blue skirt with contrasting gold accents. Arnie’s signature umbrella logo makes many subtle appearances on the driver. Some decorate the sole (along with a reproduction of Arnie’s actual signature) and the umbrella stretch logo is understated and sublime.
A matching barrel-style lid rounds off the packaging nicely.
COBRA OPTM X Basics
Sadly, the COBRA OPTM X was not a standout performer MyGolfSpy driver test this year. Finished in the middle of the pack for ball speed, carry and total distance and performed below average in accuracy and forgiveness.
It features COBRA’s POI shaping (product of inertia) as well as the COBRA FUTUREFIT33™ 33-way adjustable cuff. We covered POI in our OPTM release story back in January, but the short way is that POI measures how a clubhead rotates diagonally in all axes at once. A low POI that matches a high MOI control gear effect and provides tighter range distribution.
COBRA GOLF x Arnold Palmer OPTM X Driver: Specs, Price and Availability
Limited edition COBRA GOLF x Arnold Palmer OPTM X Driver is available online and through select retailers starting today. It’s available right-handed only, in a 10.5-degree adjustable head.
It includes the limited edition head cover and comes with a Mitsubishi 1K Tensei Blue axle.
It retails for $699.
