Alex Espargaro has named Phillip Island as ‘dangerous’ as he backs Adelaide’s street circuit.

It has been decided that MotoGP will leave Phillip Island and head to Adelaide for street racing at the end of 2026.

It’s a controversial call due to the legendary status of Phillip Island and safety concerns about the road circuit.

After the decision to leave Phillip Island, many riders were outraged as the idea had been considered one of the rider’s favorites for many years.

However, for the first time since 1981, a new concept for MotoGP street racing is gaining traction.

Aleix Espargaro has ‘full confidence’ in MotoGP’s Adelaide street circuit.

One of the riders who has pledged his support for the latest street circuit idea is a Honda test rider. Alex Espargaro.

The former Grand Prix winner went on to label Phillip Island as ‘one of the most dangerous circuits on the calendar’ before suggesting MotoGP could make Adelaide a ‘goodbye’ to the current Australian Grand Prix.

When responding to a post X Developed by former MotoGP rider Alex Hoffmann, Espargaro is “ultimately an intelligent and open-minded guy who examines things objectively rather than criticizing them for going out on the most dangerous circuits on the calendar.”

“I can’t wait to learn more about the new chapter of MotoGP!”

Espargaro went on to explain how dangerous Phillip Island is and how the road circuit works in MotoGP, “Philip Island is super fun, but at the same time, it’s one of the most dangerous circuits in the calendar for many reasons. Every year it gets worse…

It’s not a street circuit in the style of Monaco F1, but I fully believe that MotoGP has studied Adelaide and they offer safe (even safer) escapes from the last corner like Phillip Island.

Jack Miller believes the move to Adelaide is ‘fantastic news’

In the year Aleix Espargaro is not the only rider who has backed a trip to Adelaide in 2027 as the current Grand Prix rider. Jack Miller So he did.

The Australian rider, who was spotted on stage at Phillip Island, was at an announcement event in Adelaide and appeared at a press conference to announce the news.

During the press conference Miller called the move to Adelaide ‘fantastic news’. And a trip to Adelaide is ‘great for Australia’, he said.

However, the two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner“Why does MotoGP take the best circuit off the calendar?” He doesn’t share Miller’s opinion.
