Kelvin Davis faces Ivan Redkach after damaging Albright loss

Davis returns to Chartway Arena trying to repair the damage Nahir Albright did to his reputation in June 2025. The official result was a majority decision, but the fight itself was not close. Albright landed first, landed cleaner and dictated the terms throughout, while Davis followed and reacted instead of forcing the action. Fighting at home didn’t help him. It revealed that he could be controlled by an opponent willing to push him.

Redkach steps in as a recognizable name whose recent results no longer make him a serious threat. He has won just once in his last five fights and has not fought since Jose Zepeda knocked him out in two rounds in September 2024. Losses to Regis Prograis and Batyrzhan Jukembayev confirmed that he now occupies a different role in the sport, serving as an opponent for fighters who need rounds or need a win.

Careful Opponent Selection

Age and inactivity have taken him further from his peak years. Redkach turns 40 in March and hasn’t beaten a significant opponent in years. His experience and southern demeanor still present technical questions, but his recent performances have made him a manageable assignment for a fighter trying to restore confidence.

Davis still has physical advantages that cannot be taught. His height, reach and left-handed stance give him tools to control distance and disrupt opponents, but those advantages meant nothing against Albright because he didn’t use them consistently. This fight gives him a chance to show that the loss was a failure in execution rather than a permanent limitation.

Promoted by DB3 and headlined by Davis in his hometown, the April 4 card removes uncertainty about the conditions. He will use the familiar surroundings, the familiar crowd, and an opponent chosen to give him every opportunity to succeed. The onus now rests entirely on him to prove he belongs at a higher level, as another shaky performance would confirm that his progress has already stalled.
