If you have even the slightest sense of self-awareness, you must have at least a vague idea of your faults. Perhaps my biggest fault is my endless search for the “perfect” golf bag. Just when I think I’ve found the right bag, I find something I hate about it and move on. I doubt there is a bag I haven’t tried. You may remember that I it Was a big fan of Stitch but you know what they say: tastes change. Like my taste was changing, then Jones came along.
I met Jones by accident, but once I saw their bags and heard what people had to say about them, I was hooked. I have been playing their regular games trouper navy bag since the beginning of the year and I absolutely love it. However, it’s what happened just a few weeks after receiving my Trouper that really got me down. Think of Audrey Hepburn’s interactions with Cary Grant in 1963 Charades and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
At this year’s PGA Show, Jones announced their launch Heritage Collection which, according to them, embodies the pinnacle of their heritage and consists of premium parts that honor the past while elevating modern performance. From time to time, I mention that with my equipment, clothing and accessories, I am constantly looking to bridge the gap between traditional golf and the modern, “sporty” nature of the game. Simply put, through the Heritage Collection, in particular Heritage CorpsJones has done it perfectly.
for now, Heritage Corps comes in two colors: green and black. I’m a big fan of the green bag, but then again, I’m a sucker for a good green golf bag. I received my green Heritage Trouper on Saturday (Happy Valentine’s Day to me!) and, on first impressions, I’m extremely impressed. The vegan leather feels great, but more importantly, the bag is still very light. Doing a hand-to-hand comparison with my regular Trouper, there is little to no difference in weight.
Another thing that really makes the Trouper stand out is its five-way, full-length spacers, with one designed specifically for your putter, which significantly reduces club tangles. For $375, this bag is cheaper than many of its competitors in the premium bag space, it’s lighter, and it’s arguably a lot better looking. If it performs anything like the original Trouper, the Heritage Trouper has serious potential.
As the old saying goes, “It’s the little things that count” and Jones he obviously took it to heart. With the Legacy Trouper, no detail seems to have gone unnoticed. The gold plated logo on the back of the bag along with white and brown leather accents look incredible together. This looks like a bag you’d see in Sleepy Hollow’s pro shop or on the moorings at Felixstowe Ferry and, in either setting, it looks like a literary dream come to life. If you know, I mention Felixstowe because this is the kind of bag I picture Professor Parkins, the “protagonist” of the famous ghost story of Mr. James, “Oh, whistle, and I will come to you, my son” – and this is a compliment of the highest order.
As part of the Heritage Collection, Jones has also released lid bags, distance bags, crew neck tops, blouse AND diving kitsfully demonstrating their philosophy that golf is a lifestyle above all else. I can’t wait to get my Heritage Trouper out on the course and will report back once I get a chance to put it in play. Until then, in terms of aesthetics and feel alone, this is easily one of the best releases of 2026 and is a bag that will be easy to fall in love with. Jones is just that good.
