Sandro Tonali equalized for Newcastle in the 63rd minute with a well-taken goal, capitalizing on the numerical advantage. Newcastle made immediate substitutions, bringing on W. Osula for Anthony Gordon and J. Murphy for A. Elanga to inject fresh energy.
