MotoGP test day three times when Alex Marquez was the fastest and Marc Marquez broke down

The final day of the MotoGP 2026 pre-season Sepang test is now in the books, and… that wraps up the week on the timesheets.

Despite being hit by rain on the second afternoon, the MotoGP grid managed to retain some valuable track time ahead of the upcoming new season, and plenty of information for the engineers to decipher.

Marc Marquez took first place on the first day of racing. While offering a quick return to the schedule following a winter break focused mostly on recovering from a broken collarbone.

On the second day It was Joan Mir who claimed the fastest time for Honda. 2025 as they look to continue their journey of becoming a front-running builder from the back of the midfield several years ago.

The session opened in cold conditions, prompting qualifying-sim frustration. Marco Bezecchi and Joan Mir were the first to come in in the 1:57s, followed quickly by trackhouse duo Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura.

Things escalated when Fabio Di Giannantonio set a first time of 1:56.785 at the start, only to be overtaken minutes later by Alex Marquez. The Gresini star posted a 1:56.402, eclipsing Francesco Bagnaia’s all-time record of 1:56.337.

In the morning, world champion Marc Marquez overcame a minor crash to move into P3 with a 1:56.789, leading Ducati’s top three into the lunch break.

As the track temperature rose, the focus shifted from single lap shooting to long run simulations.

The younger Márquez brother appears to be the most consistent in the race, posting consecutive times that are one-tenth faster than Bagnaia’s race figures.

After technical hiccups on day two, the Yamaha was set to run on the final day, with Fabio Quattararo nursing a broken finger as he put in some important laps earlier in the day.
