There is always magic in Boston. This year, however, at version 31 was quite special. For this writer, who attended 28 of the 31 matches, the magic in the air, the enthusiasm of the athletes, fans and staff was palpable. The magic time. It started with the 2,000 meters, where Hobbs Kessler and Grant Fisher battled each other to the finish, and it continued through the men’s 300 meters, where Jeremy Richards just held off a hard-charging Noah Lyles.
The event was held at the house built by Jim Davis for sponsor New Balance. Jim Davis is the man who saw the future in 1972 and took a humble shoe company and turned it into the largest privately held sneaker and apparel brand in the world.
The TRACK at New Balance is a palace for our sport, a true sanctuary for sport. Fans, all five thousand of them, soak in the natural light from the huge windows, and there isn’t a bad seat in the facility.
The athletes gave everything on that wonderful day in Boston.
I hopped into a Lyft post event and rushed to the airport, eager to avoid Snowmageddon because I had a Dubai Marathon to cover.
But that, dear friends, will be the next part of the story, “Larry’s Most Excellent Adventure2026”
