last year, Justin Rose’s win at FedEx St. Jewish Classic came with a new club that week. This week, his dominant win at the Farmers Insurance Open also came with a new club in the bag.
While Rose shocked many by winning the FedEx at the end of last season with a new one Callaway driver who hadn’t used it on the course at all before Thursday. This week at Torrey Pines, he apparently had more reps with his new TaylorMade Qi4D 7-wood.
The club replaced some of the older ones in Rose’s bag, as the former world No. 1 has been carrying three TaylorMade M6 7-woods. Rose won with a 5-wood in the bag last season, but has traded that for a 7-wood this week. He still had the M6 3-wood in the bag this week, just as he did in 2019 when he last won the Farmers (albeit a different axis).
This 3-wood is in place of the R7 Quad Mini driver he used for most of last season, but with Torrey Pines’ strong length, this was probably more of a situational change than long-term.
Rose is quite the tinkererafter the gearless agent made multiplesChanges last season, including the game a driver with lead tape wrapped around the shaft under the handle. Since his win in Memphis five months ago, he’s also made changes to his irons, now going to a full set of Miuras, split between TC-202 hollow backs in the long irons and MC-502 blades in the short irons. He previously used Titleist 620 CB long cuffs.

Rose has used the full set of Miura 502s at times, but has settled on the split with the slightly more forgiving TC-202 in the long irons. This win is the first win for a full set of Miura irons since 2021.
The rest of Rose’s bag consists of Vokey wedges. He still hasn’t switch to new SM11 and instead is standing with his SM10s. He closes out the bag with a Scotty Cameron Phantom T-5 gauge.

Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana WB Wood Shaft
The board is back. After a few years away, the vintage surfboard always associated with Diamanaâ„¢ returns with the Diamana WB. Built on a hugely popular and tour-proven platform, the WB delivers classic low-low performance and the legendary stability and control you’ve come to expect after two decades. The first in the 6th Generation Diamanaâ„¢ family, the WB is designed with all the traditional branding that made the Diamanaâ„¢ so beloved, including flowers on the handle, a surfboard behind the Diamana logo and a return to the original 53/63/73/83 weight class designations. But rest assured, the only thing coming back about the Diamanaâ„¢ WB is its looks. Indeed, 80 ton super high modulus Dialead Pitch Fiber is used in the butt to provide maximum stability and increased power transfer and 46 ton high modulus fiber is used in the shaft corner layers to reduce torque without increasing weight for improved control and stability. The orientation of the carbon fiber in the tip section has been optimized to further reduce torque. The classic feel of this Diamanaâ„¢ profile is achieved through the use of our proprietary Xlink Techâ„¢ Resin System and MR70 technologies. Our Xlink Techâ„¢ resin system increases shaft strength and durability while increasing carbon fiber volume for better feel. Feel and strength are further enhanced through the use of our aerospace grade MR70 fiber – our strongest fiber to date.
