Valentino Rossi could give Yamaha ‘extra incentive’ to sign Francesco Bagnaia for 2027


Francesco Bagnaia’s Ducati future is under scrutiny for 2027, but Valentino Rossi could provide him with a safety net in more ways than one.

He went from being Italian Ducati Lead rider and golden talent to play second fiddle to Marc Marquez. The team has made it clear that the 2025 champion’s priority is the 2027 contracts.

Rossi is Yamaha’s biggest MotoGP rider. Historically, they won four of seven premierships in the 2000s. He established himself as a global icon with the group and remains closely associated with them to this day – VR46 has even been in talks with Yamaha To join them in 2027.

According to the report reapingRossi recently entered into a new partnership with Yamaha through VR46 Racing Apparel. As well as being a brand ambassador, it could also give Iwata Apparel an ‘extra push’ to sign Bagnayan.

With Quattararo likely to leave in 2027, the signing of the Ducati rider will at least mean Yamaha will be ‘without a great champion’ in their coach.
