WPL 2026: Historic hundred by Nat Sciver-Brunt leads Mumbai Indians to victory against RCB

Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a 15-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their 16th match. Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Monday at BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara. A sensational unbeaten century from Nat Sciver-Brunt laid the foundation for MI’s victory as they successfully defended 199 for 4.

Batting first after RCB opted to bowl, MI got off to a steady start through Hayley Mathews who scored a smooth 56 off 39 balls. Matthews provided early momentum before falling to Lauren Bell, but by then MI were well placed.

The innings belonged to the unbeaten Nat Sciver-Brunt, who made a breathtaking 100 off 57 deliveries that included 16 fours and a six. His composure under pressure and his ability to find boundaries with his will ensured Mumbai’s pace in the middle and death.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur provided the impetus by hitting 20 at a crucial stage.

Despite disciplined spells from Lauren Bell and Nadine de Klerk, Mumbai’s depth shone as they were bundled out at 199 for 4, a tough target on the Vadodara surface.

Richa Ghosh shines but RCB fail to reach the finish line

In reply, Royal Challengers Bengaluru got off to a positive start with Grace Harris scoring a quickfire 15. However, early wickets including dismissals of captain Smriti Mandhana, Georgia Voll and Gautami Naik halted their momentum and RCB struggled to build partnerships.

The middle-order resistance came from Richa Ghosh, who counter-attacked with 90 from just 50 balls with 10 fours and 6 sixes. He found support from Nadine de Klerk and Arundhati Reddy, briefly reviving hopes of an unexpected follow-up.

Despite Ghosh’s late surge, the MI bowlers held their nerve in the final. Shabnim Ismail set the tone early, while Matthews and Amelia Kerr scored the decisive wickets.

RCB eventually finished at 184 for 9falls below 15 despite valiant efforts by the lower middles.
