New Zealand dough Daryl Mitchell He once again proved his mettle against India as he set fire to his third ODI with a breathtaking century, sending the fans into a frenzy at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The right-hander continued his golden run against the Indian attack with another commanding knock that underlined his status as one of the most reliable overseas batsmen on Indian soil.
Daryl Mitchell’s love affair with Indian terms continues
Batting in his customary No. 4 position for New Zealand, Mitchell brought up his fourth ODI hundred against India, all of which have been remarkable in India. The 34-year-old hit the milestone during the third ODI of the three-match series, displaying a perfect blend of power and composure on a batting-friendly surface.
It was Mitchell’s second consecutive century in the ongoing series, having crossed the 80-run mark in all three matches. Mitchell’s consistency stood out in a contest where bowlers often struggled for answers, as he calmly built up his innings before pacing with authority.
Mitchell’s serial numbers paint a picture of sheer dominance. He followed up his 84 in the first two ODIs and his unbeaten 131 with another triple-figure score in Indore. His ability to adapt to spaces and situations has been one of the defining characteristics of New Zealand’s batting performances in the series.
It should be noted that Mitchell’s form against India has been out of this round. In the 2025 Champions Trophy final against India, he scored a crucial 63, further cementing his reputation as a big playmaker against high-quality opposition.
Elite company among Kiwi greats
Notably, Mitchell has now become the second New Zealand batsman to register four consecutive 50-plus ODI scores against India. In doing so, he joined his former captain Kane Williamson who scored five such points in 2014.
What makes Mitchell’s record even more impressive is that no international side has given him more than two ODI centuries. But India have now seen him score four hundreds, highlighting the unique comfort he has found batting in Indian conditions.

Glenn Phillips joins Mitchell as the party continues for Kiwi batters
Adding yet another moment of brilliance to New Zealand’s memorable outing, Glenn Phillips brought up his second ODI century with a knock that perfectly showcased his temperament and explosive range. Phillips endured his Test debut, taking 37 deliveries to register his first boundary, but he never looked at the crease. Once settled in, the dynamic batsman shifted gears sharply, with clean hitting and sharp placement to dismantle the Indian bowling attack.
He eventually reached his hundred in just 83 balls, turning a slow start into a stunning statement innings. Mitchell, on the other hand, was clearly delighted, hugging Phillips and patting him on the back in a heartfelt celebration that reflected New Zealand’s strong camaraderie and dominance in the middle.

The form of Daryl Mitchell is unprecedented, unheard of, unreal. He makes a mockery of ODI cricket, making batting look ridiculously easy.
He smashed another hundred which is quite normal in ODIs especially against us. Bro has mastered the art of pacing the shot with the right shot… pic.twitter.com/yjGlioo8G
