Notably, Mitchell has now become the second New Zealand batsman to register four consecutive 50-plus ODI scores against India. In doing so, he joined his former captain Kane Williamson who scored five such points in 2014.

What makes Mitchell’s record even more impressive is that no international side has given him more than two ODI centuries. But India have now seen him score four hundreds, highlighting the unique comfort he has found batting in Indian conditions.

Adding yet another moment of brilliance to New Zealand’s memorable outing, Glenn Phillips brought up his second ODI century with a knock that perfectly showcased his temperament and explosive range. Phillips endured his Test debut, taking 37 deliveries to register his first boundary, but he never looked at the crease. Once settled in, the dynamic batsman shifted gears sharply, with clean hitting and sharp placement to dismantle the Indian bowling attack.

He eventually reached his hundred in just 83 balls, turning a slow start into a stunning statement innings.
