
India’s teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi engraved his name in the history books India U-19 ICC U-19 World Cup 2026 clash against Bangladesh in Bulawayo on Saturday. Just 14 years old, Suryavanshi smashed long-standing records with a fearless 72 off 67 deliveries and established himself as one of the brightest young talents in world cricket.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi overtook Babar Azam to achieve a special feat in the history of the Under-19 Men’s World Cup.
Opening the innings with remarkable composure and intent, Suryavanshi wasted no time attacking the Bangladeshi bowlers. His innings of six boundaries and three powerful sixes was highlighted by a blistering half-century that came off just 30 balls. At 14 years and 296 days, he became the youngest player to score more than 50 points in an Under-19 Men’s World Cup match.
The previous record was held by Afghanistan Shahidullah KamalIn 2014, he achieved this feat at the age of 15 years and 19 days. Pakistani star Babar AzamHe then went on to dominate international cricket, ranking third on the list after fifty in the 2010 tournament.
Suryavanshi now sits at the top of an illustrious list of junior achievers in the U-19 World Cup, which also includes Afghanistan. Pervez Malikzai and of Nepal Sharad Veshawkar. The milestone not only highlights his prodigious talent but also sets him apart from several players who have gone on to have successful international careers.
The moment is particularly special for Indian cricket as Suryavanshi becomes the youngest from the country to reach such heights on the global youth stage, cementing India’s reputation as a conveyor belt of emerging talent.

Suryavanshi overtook Virat Kohli in Youth ODI runs
The exploits of the 14-year-old did not end with one record. Suryavanshi was also superior in that match Virat Kohli List of Indian batsmen with most runs in youth ODIs. In just 20 Youth ODIs, Suryavanshi has already amassed 1,047 runs, surpassing Kohli’s tally of 978 runs in 28 matches at junior level.
