Gvozdyk vs Kalajdzic battle is done, waiting for announcement

The fight itself is real. The announcement just hasn’t caught up yet.

A light heavyweight bout between Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Radivoje Kalajdzic has been finalized for the Feb. 1 Paramount+ card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, according to veteran boxing reporter And Raphael. It hasn’t been formally revealed, but the game is done.

That quiet deployment fits the bill. This is not a head fight. It is a piece of infrastructure.

Gvozdyk enters as a former WBC champion and is trying to find his exact spot at 175 again. Since his return from retirement, the Ukrainian southpaw has been positioned cautiously. He is still sharp. Still disciplined. Still able to control space with his jab and timing. What he hasn’t done yet is force the department to respond to him.

Kalajdzic comes from a different angle. The Serbian puncher was undefeated until his April 2024 loss to David Morrell. That battle cleared things up. Kalajdzic can crack. He can push. But when forced to fight at elite speed, he struggled to keep order. This fight is his chance to show that the Morrell loss was a lesson rather than a ceiling.

The pairing makes sense because it quietly answers questions for both men. For Gvozdyk, it tests durability and urgency against a fighter who won’t wait. For Kalajdzic, it tests composure against a technician who has already lived at championship level.

The fight is slated for a Paramount+ card promoted by Zuffa, part of a continued effort to build boxing depth around Apex events rather than chasing spectacle.

Rafael acknowledged the lack of ceremony when discussing the bout online, saying it was “not formally announced, but it’s a fight that’s being made.”

The line says enough. This is not a showcase. It’s a sorting battle. And at light heavyweight, that still means something.
