Excerpts from an interview Boxing King Media conducted with Anthony Joshua a few months ago shows the former world champion’s deep philosophical outlook on life, one that resonates even more powerfully now following the tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends.
“I just look at life and I’m like, man … this is crazy,” Joshua said in the conversation originally published by Boxing King Media back in May.
Excerpts from an interview we conducted with Anthony Joshua a few months ago show that he is a very philosophical young man who appreciates everything he is gifted with in life.

Reflecting on purpose, mortality and the pace of modern life, Joshua added:
“All this stuff, believe it or not, is a huge distraction in my opinion, because in the grand scheme of things, everything I’m chasing and everything I want to own to make me feel relevant on this earth isn’t that important because I can’t take it with me.
All that is guaranteed is death. All that will matter is just living to the best of our ability. Isn’t it crazy how fast life will go? We will be old, and one day all that matters is living to the best of our ability.”
He also spoke poignantly about his grandfather’s aging and how it shaped his perspective on what really matters:
“I went to see my grandfather the other day and he is very old now. I thought that all that matters to him now is who looks after him in his old age because he can’t really look after himself anymore.
At one point in his life, work was the most important thing ever. And now for that business, he’s nothing, because he’s too old now.”
In light of this week’s devastating incident, those reflections now carry great weight. Joshua, who miraculously survived the accident, remains in hospital in Nigeria as his family – including his uncle Adedamola – express their shock and hope for his recovery.
