Among the top 10 players on the PGA Tour, only one used a blade-style putter in 2025.
Trend away from blades to hammer gauges just last year. DP World Tour equipment monitoring group, SMS on tour, recently posted blade use on the Euro Tour dropped another four percent in 2025, to just 18.4 percent.
There is no evidence that it is higher on the PGA Tour.
In the PGA Tour’s top-10 Strokes Gained: Rankings for last season, only Harry Hall used a blade gauge, playing an Odyssey O-Works 1W model. Many traditionalists wouldn’t even classify his wide body blade as a true blade.
Towards the end of the year, we saw Ben Griffin, the best true blade player for most of the season, switch to a hammer hammer and win the World Championship of Technology. The spider footballer he switched to was the most winning family of footballers of the season.
