Azimerav and Cheptegei won Kolkata 25K
KOLKATA (IND, December 21). Olympic champion 10000 m Joshua Cheptegei beat the marathon world champion Alphonse Simba At the Tata Steel World 25K (WA Gold Label) in Kolkata, 1:11:49 to 1:11:56, with Lesotho’s Tebello Ramakongoana third in 1:11:59. Degitu Azimerau took his second career win in the race in 1:19:36, finishing 1-2-3 ahead of Ethiopia’s Sutume Kebede (1:20:28) and Meselech Alemayehu (1:20:48). The top Indian runners were Gulveer Singh who finished fifth in the men’s race in 1:12:06 and Seeman tenth in the women’s race in 1:26:04.
