Keyshawn Davis rebuilds after team change and weight miss

Keyshawn replaced his coach, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, and the rest of the team. He says he is now learning a new system with new coaches. He will now fight at 140, but he states that he will not be in this weight class for long.

Words vs Actions

“A lot of people expect me to be back on January 31st. We’ll see what happens,” Keyshawn Davis told the media. “I don’t care who I fight. I changed my whole team. Everyone I used to work with, I no longer work with. Everything is different.”

Tim Bradley reported on his channel that Keyshawn has priced himself out for a title fight against IBF 140-lb champion Richardson Hitchins for the January 31st card. He says Keyshawn wanted $2.5 million.

Davis says he doesn’t care who I fight, but he hasn’t been open to fighting his four-time victor in the past. Andy Cruz from Cuba. His actions speak louder than words. It’s hard to imagine Keyshawn agreeing to fight Gary Antuanne Russell or Ernesto Mercado at 140.

Davis’ promoters at Top Rank are not expected to put him against someone they don’t believe he can beat. Everyone Keyshawn has faced since he turned pro four years ago has been favored to beat. That tells you something about who his promoters are willing to match him.

Learn a new system

“I had to do a full circle check after the June (missed weight), and everybody was wiped out except DB3 (his brothers). I have a whole new team, a whole new system,” Davis said.

Keyshawn was 4.3 pounds overweight for his scheduled fight against Edwin De Los Santos on June 7th. The fight was subsequently cancelled. For Davis to fire his team after that weight miss is a red flag that he’s blaming them instead of taking responsibility.
