bad is embarking on a new six-part collaboration with the Grateful Dead in honor of the band’s 60th anniversary, and the first part drops live on Friday, December 5 at 10:00 AM PST. Each installment will feature a different artist, creating a series that mixes Malbon’s visual identity with reinterpretations of Dead iconography.
Drop 1 highlights the work of Daniel Herwitt, an artist known for illustrations that sit somewhere between the ordinary and the surreal. His layered drawings, heavy line work and focus on everyday objects give the graphics in this release a really distinct tone. The pieces themselves include hoodies, jackets, sweatshirts and other apparel with shared logos and sweet artwork that reference the band’s visual history without repeating it.

bad has collaborated with big cultural names before, but this project really pales in comparison. The six-part drop structure allows each to stand on its own while contributing to a larger creative and narrative arc.
