GB funded athletes 2026

GB has financed the athletes in 2026

A group of 62 athletes have been nominated for membership to join the Great Britain Athletics World Class Program (WCP) for the 2025/26 season.

As in previous years, all WCP nominations are subject to ratification by UK Sport and the completion of a sports agreement signed between the athlete and UK Athletics.

UKA Performance Director Paula Dunn said:

“I would like to thank UK Sport and The National Lottery for their continued investment in a world-class programme. Their support is vital as we build an exciting period for British athletics. With the first ever European Championships in Birmingham in 2026, our GB & NI athletes will have an incredible opportunity to compete with family and friends back home. special and I know our athletes will be proud and purposeful for the occasion.

“We are now entering a crucial phase of the performance cycle. our sights are firmly set on the 2027 World Championships in Beijing and the Los Angeles Olympics and beyond. Every step we take from here is aimed at reaching that peak.”

Notes:

  • Those athletes with * in their name are new to the 2026 program

The Olympic WCP is the UK’s National Sports Lottery initiative to identify, develop and support talented athletes to achieve podium success at the Olympics and other major world championships. Athletes are nominated for WCP membership based on an assessment that they have realistic potential and demonstrable performance to succeed on the podium at the 2027 Beijing World Championships, the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and, in some cases, the 2032 Olympics.
