Tim Bradley on Haney’s Lawsuit: “It’s Charmin Soft”

Commentator Tim Bradley says Devin Haney is showing that he “Charmin soft” with his decision to file a lawsuit for battery against Ryan Garcia because he lost to him on April 20. Ryan subsequently tested positive for the PED Ostarine and was subsequently fined and suspended for one year by the New York State Athletic Commission.

Bradley disagrees with Haney’s way of dealing with the aftermath of his loss to Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs). He feels the better approach would have been to focus on a rematch and show he can turn things around in a second fight.

Look at it this way: If Ryan’s win last April was due to his PED use and was 3.2 pounds overweight at the weigh-in, Haney should be able to beat him in the rematch if he’s clean and at weight. However, with the decision of the 25-year-old Haney to sue, he lost the opportunity to fight Ryan again, and the other top fighters could push him away. That leaves Haney’s only chance for mega-money on his lawsuit, and he might lose.

“Softest (stuff) I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s Charmin soft. Get your butt like a man,” said Tim Bradley Probox TVwhich responds to Devin Haney suing Ryan Garcia for battery, fraud and unjust enrichment.

Fans on social media disagree with Haney’s decision to sue, and they feel he should have taken the rematch. Ryan was willing to give Haney a second fight until he started the lawsuit, but that’s no longer an option. He says he’s not going to give Haney a rematch now.

“He signed the contract, got that extra money for that extra weight and got the 0 back on his record. What else do you want?” Bradley went on to refer to the money Ryan Garcia paid Haney for losing weight by coming in at 143.2 pounds for their April 20 fight.

“Now you’re suing Ryan for battery? It’s a boxing match. You still have to keep that right hand at home; you didn’t do it! You fought the wrong game plan.”

“Anything that deters guys, even a little bit, I’m all for it,” said Paulie Malignaggi, who has sided with Haney in his decision to file a lawsuit against Garcia.

If Haney does win a huge settlement of tens of millions, it might deter other fighters from using PEDs, but it might not. There is too much to gain for fighters with less ability to refrain from using PEDs because all they need is one big money fight to set them up for life with millions. If performance-enhancing drugs will help those fighters get that retirement payday, they will continue to use.
