Jasprit Bumrah currently has 870 rating points, just one point ahead of his Indian counterpart R Ashwin who is in second place with 869 points. Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada complete the top five.
There are three Indian players in the top ten list of ICC Men’s Rankings for bowlers. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja is at number six.
Bumrah was dominant in the Kanpur Test match between India and Bangladesh where he picked up 6 wickets for a total of 67 runs in both innings. He provided wickets at important moments when his team wanted them.
On a pitch not much for fast bowlers, Bumrah used all his skill and experience to come back with crazy figures. He finished with 3-50 in the first innings of the match and 3-17 in the second innings.
His ability to play both the new ball and the old ball makes him such a lethal bowler in all formats of the game. He also finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series, taking 11 wickets in 2 Tests at an average of 12.81.
Jasprit Bumrah is having the best time of his career as he is performing very well in all formats. Before the Test series against Bangladesh, he played in the T20 World Cup 2024 in June, where he played a key role in India’s title win. Bumrah was selected as the Player of the Tournament.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz also gained four spots in the rankings as he became his country’s highest-ranked player in the series. Miraz took 9 wickets at an average of 29.44 in 2 Tests.
