How do you write about King James?
Jakob Ingebrigtsen currently holds the indoor world records in the mile, 1500 meters, 2000 meters, 3000 meters and 2 miles.
Outdoors, Jakob Ingebrigtsen has set world records in the 2,000 meters, 3,000 meters and 2 miles. The two mile record of 7:54.10 blows my mind, two straight miles at 3:57 mile pace.
I have interviewed Jacob a few times since 2019 and I have to tell you that he sure is a lot of fun and loves talking to the media who know about track and field.
At the Olympic Games, Jakob Ingebrigtsen won gold in 1500 meters (Tokyo 2021) and 5000 meters (Paris 2024).
Many athletes love Jacob because he runs a lot and is not afraid of anyone. Jacob lost big races, but he also made those athletes run their best.
In our interviews, Jakob Ingebrigtsen talks to me about the confidence he gets from racing, and he loves cross-country racing. His strength, I believe, is what helps Jacob run so efficiently from 1500m to 5000m.

Among his many achievements, Jacob has won eight European Athletics Championships. At the 2024 EA Champions, Jacob told the media:
“Cross country is something I really enjoy. It is very different from my other competitions. there’s something special and exciting about 100 people heading for the first turn at the starting line. There is a lot of fighting, pushing and shoving. many things can happen. The course was very challenging, tactically and technically.

Last year, Jakob ran cross country, then European Indoors and World Indoors. She battled through injuries and returned to form in Tokyo, running the 1500m and 5000m finals. Watch Jakob’s good race in 2026. In Tokyo, he told friends he was there to “have some fun.” Jacob is always realistic.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen will compete in Lagoa, Portugal on December 14, 2025 at the SPAR Athletics European Cross Country Championships (see EA story right here); https://www.runblogrun.com/2025/11/can-anyone-stop-jakob-ingebrigtsen-at-the-spar-european-cross-country-championships.html
