Srixon returns to the game improvement market with new ZXiR irons

Srixon is back in the game upgrade iron space and for the first time, entering the super game upgrade market.

The company unveiled its new ZXiR and ZXiR HL irons, marking the company’s first true game improvement iron since 2015’s ZXiR and its first super game improvement iron with the ZXiR HL. The last iron to improve the game was the Z355 in 2015.

“With the introduction of our new game-improving irons and, for the first time ever, a super game-improving model, Srixon is opening the door for more golfers to experience the performance and feel that our irons are revered,” Srixon VP of R&D Jeff Brunski said in a release. “These additions represent a new chapter in our innovation journey, bringing the advanced technologies and premium craftsmanship players expect from Srixon and making them available to all levels of players.”

The new irons feature a new i-ALLOY, which the company says is 10 percent softer than the 431 steel used on the ZX4 Mk II irons.

Continue reading below for more about the new irons release, who they’re for, and my thoughts on the release.

What are the Srixon ZXiR and ZXiR HL irons?

At the core of the new ZXiR irons is the company’s new i-ALLOY. The material was developed specifically for the ZXiR irons, which are the first irons in the Srixon line since 2015.

Due to the lighter and softer material, Srixon created a new mainframe milling pattern for the ZXiR faces to redistribute mass, which increases ball speed and increases forgiveness. The material is used for the body and face for the 8-iron through the sand wedge, and only the body for the long and mid irons.

To help inspire confidence at address, the ZXiR irons have a larger profile, including a longer blade length, wider sole and more offset than other ZXi irons.

The ZXiR HL irons have thinner loft and optimized specs to help slower players get the ball in the air.

Both irons feature many of the same core technologies in the rest ZXi iron connectionform wild popularity Tour VT solein a progressive groove pattern that adjusts in width and depth based on the loft.

Who are Srixon ZXiR irons for?

With the new ZXiR and ZXiR HL irons, Srixon now has a complete lineup of irons for every player on the spectrum. The ZXiR irons slot right in behind the ZXi4 hollow body irons as an iron for medium to high handicappers looking for forgiveness and high speed.

The ZXiR HL irons are aimed at players with slower swing speeds who need a push to get the ball in the air. There is also a version for women.

My thoughts!

When it comes to game-enhancing irons, many models on the market have so many obvious technologies that they can really be a turn-off for many players.

With the new ZXiR irons, Srixon have done a really nice job of keeping the look and shape that made them new The ZXi lineup is so popularwidening it to suit less ball-savvy attackers.

The aesthetics certainly won’t put anyone off as they really do look like a better iron, just bigger.

The Tour VT sole can help a lot of players in this category, but until now, players have to have the ability to play a ZXi4 iron in the golfer’s distance to get it.
