Tendulkar’s IPL career has been characterized by successive entries into the auction but minimal match appearances, a game that was a pivotal moment for LSG’s development beyond their initial comfort zone. It was bought for the first time in IPL 2021 in the IPL 2021 mini-auction, but in spite of being bought, it was not in any match of the whole season, it was left out. The franchise took faith by buying him back for Inr 30 Lakh in the last IPL 2022 mega-auction where he continues to wait for his debut opportunity.
Tendulkar finally made his much-awaited IPL debut in 2023, where he took his most significant games, managing to take three wickets in four matches. However, this momentum proved to be his last match in Mi colors when this momentum did not carry over, as seen in just one match in IPL 2024. His tough period continued into the IPL 2025 mega-auction, where after being resold in the first round, his intr sped up again on a base of 30 lakhs, despite the whole season settling down.
The current trade sees LSG rope in the 26-year-old all-rounder for INR 30 Lakh to specifically address specific squad needs. The main motivation of the Lucknow-based franchise is also to add more depth to their pace bowling attack with a local player offering batting opportunities. The move is seen by many as a real test for Tendular, forcing him to compete for a performance-based place on the fringes of Mumbai’s protective family milieu.
