Finals in 17 of 20 sessions
MONACO (MON). “With the spirit of collaboration between World Athletics (WA), LA28, Olympic Broadcasting Services, the IOC and NBC as host broadcaster, we’ve got an athletics program that’s off to a blistering start as our women’s sprinters take center stage on day one, then the men continue with the Ceremony after Global Day.” commented World Athletics President Sebastian Coe in a WA statement following the release of the LA28 session-by-session schedule on Wednesday morning. “Both of our competition teams spent a lot of time talking to the athletes, talking to the coaches, and they were overwhelmingly supportive,” she expanded on the women’s 100m daily.

World Athletics notes: “The finals will take place in 17 of the 20 sessions, with the schedule carefully designed to allow for the maximum number of doubles, such as 100m and 200m, 200m and 400m (plus relay), 800m and 1500m and 1500m, and 1500m, 1500m and 1500m. 10,000 m, long jump and triple jump. Sebastian Coe also commented on Sydney McLaughlin-Levron’s potential 400m and 400m hurdles double. The WA president also spoke about the men’s marathon. “It will be the same in Los Angeles, where the (men’s marathon) medals will be presented at the closing ceremony. We would like to see the road events, the marathon and the race, finish at the Coliseum. We are in ongoing discussions with LA28 to see if we can make this happen.” via Sports Examiner.
