“He’s had rough nights, Eubank Jr. is done”

Eddie Hearn believes Chris Eubank Jr. will retire after losing to Conor Benn on Saturday night in their rematch on November 15 in London at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mind Games Before Fight Night

Hearn sees that Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) has been through a lot physically during his career, with “a lot of tough nights.” However, it is doubtful that he is just saying this, hoping that Eubank Jr. will hear that comment and start doubting himself enough for Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) to get an edge.

Is Hearn genuinely concerned about Eubank Jr. or is he just playing psychological chess to get him hyped before the fight? Hearn’s side appears to be feigned, a ploy to get Eubank Jr. worrying about himself. It’s definitely sneaky, but there’s a lot to gain for Benn if he prevails in this battle. His popularity will increase, and he will earn good money if he is offered a fight against Canelo Alvarez or Terence Crawford.

If anyone should be considering retirement, it’s Benn, 29, in a true sense. He’s the one who lost last time, and he didn’t look impressive. As he fought, he would lose to the top fighters at 147, 154 and 160.

You couldn’t stack him against Vergil Ortiz Jr., Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis or Brian Norman Jr. plug in and expect him to beat any of those fighters. To be by Eubank jr. getting beat showed that Benn doesn’t have the talent to be a big player from 160 to 147.

Hearn hopes that Benn will be better, but he has nothing to base that on as he hasn’t fought since his loss to Eubank Jr. last April. The only way someone can say he will be better is if he has fought someone to show that he has improved.

“Eubank’s a tough, stubborn man, and he’s not going to make it easy for us in there. I just believe we beat him this time,” Hearn said. “It will be another brutal battle. I really believe we will win on Saturday, and we will do it in style.”

If Eubank Jr. fights like he did last April, it’s going to be a long night at the office for Benn because he doesn’t have the offensive output to match that kind of fighter without gassing out.

“I truly believe this will be Chris Eubank Jr’s last fight on Saturday. I think he had very difficult nights. I know there are a lot of people on his team who want him to retire,” Hearn said.

Eubank Jr. Refuse Retirement Talk

Eubank Jr. already said at the Grand Arrivals on Tuesday that he plans to fight beyond Saturday’s rematch with Benn. So, Hearn might as well forget about his hopes for Eubank Jr. to retire.
