We all like it hit high pitches that floats like a butterfly and stops on a dime, but it’s better to hit lower shots where you can control the trajectory and make the ball bite hard once it lands. It is the most reliable shot.
The key to hitting the pitch low is catching the ball super clean and, well, controlling the low point of your swing arc.

Here’s how to do it.
With each wedge, set it up like you would for every pitch, then take your trailing hand off the club and put it behind your back like you see me doing here. Now, just try your swing, back and forth, using only your lead arm, brushing the grass in the same spot each time. Important: With each swing, finish with the lead arm straight and in line with the club shaft. Also, check that your lead joint is flat, not bent or bent improperly.
If you nail these positions, the ball will come off the clubface with a lot of spin and a lower trajectory – easy to control for a nice lift and landing. Experiment with different wedge lofts to decrease the distances of your shots for an easy putt to save on level.
