Separate training time for the 3rd round
Only one player has successfully defended a PGA Tour title in 2025 – this one Scottie Scheffler at the 2025 Memorial Tournament — but it looks like this week we may have a contender to add his name to that list.
Matt McCarty, who earned his first PGA Tour victory last year at the Black Desert Championship – introduced this year’s edition on Friday with a thrilling round of 65, highlighted by a front 28 that included seven birdies. He is now eight under overall, and two shots off the lead with two rounds to play.
“Being able to go back to back would be cool, yeah,” McCarty said after his round. “This is a unique opportunity.”
McCarty will tee off for the third round at 2:40pm ET on Saturday along with Pierceson Coody and Justin Lower.
