After the Asian Cup 2025 drama, Pakistan The Super League (PSL) is facing one of its most uncertain and frustrating phases, with operations moving at a painfully slow pace.
As the Pakistan Super League enters its 11th edition, franchise owners, sponsors, sponsors and fans are all left in the dark, not sure when the next season will take place or what the league’s working and team arrangements will be like.

As reported by Cricket Pakistan, the evaluation process of existing franchisees is being delayed, thereby delaying its new sale teams and renewal of commercial contracts. The Pakistan Super League has struggled to gain momentum under the leadership of Salman Naseer.

The report further suggested that the PSL franchise owners will have almost no communication with the league management and are concerned about unresolved issues.
An audit firm contacted the teams for information needed to assess their value, and while the teams provided the required details, there was no visible movement in the process.
There are plans to bring in two new teams, and at the same time, there is still no final decision on how they will be added to the league. Organizers originally planned to hold the 11th edition later this year, but those plans have been postponed.
Recently, there is talk of holding the Pakistan Super League (IPL) along with the Indian Premier League (IPL) in April or May next year.
However, no official confirmation was made, leaving them in confusion. Meanwhile, accounts from the 10th edition of PSL are still pending and some key stakeholders are yet to make payments.
Add to that several important commercial deals still to come, including a 10-year title sponsorship extension, including 8-10 categories, domestic and international broadcast deals, live broadcast deals and production deals.
This has led to growing frustration among franchise owners who were expecting better management and faster progress under Naseer. The main reason for this slow process is Naseer’s divided focus.
He is busy managing other Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) affairs and is actively involved in the Asia Cup 2025 as an official of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

PSL Management and Communication Failures
Naseer also did not set up a dedicated team to manage PSL operations effectively. A temporary hire before the 10th edition, a woman was later made permanent, but also failed to properly manage the league’s growing administrative problems.
Franchise officials, who had hoped for positive changes and more professionalism under Naseer, were reportedly disappointed and disheartened. And then the lack of communication only added to the uncertainty and frustration surrounding the PSL.
