Rohit Sharma’s heartwarming gesture towards Virat Kohli stole the limelight as the Indian National Cricket Team left Delhi for the white-ball tour of Australia on Wednesday (October 15) morning.

Shubman saw the Gill-LED ODI squad leave for Perth at the Delhi airport. The Indian players boarded the team bus on the way to T3 airport, Rohit Sharma’s gesture caught everyone’s attention.

Later, Rohit Sharma was seen bowing slightly while greeting Virat Kohli who was sitting in the team bus at the airport. The moment highlights the bond and mutual admiration between two of India’s biggest cricket icons. Now the short exchange has instantly gone viral online.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill was all smiles as he embarked on his new journey as India’s new ODI captain after making a surprising start to his career as a Test Captain. In the video, Virat Kohli congratulated Gill before hugging the young captain on the team bus.

Gill, Rohit, Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Dhruv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep SinghNitish Kumar Reddy and Prasidh Krishna, along with some support staff, flew in from Delhi before dawn.

The second bowler will leave for Australia on Wednesday evening. Indian coach Gautam Gambhir will travel with the rest of the squad in the second batch.

Shubman starts off strong as the clay-eyed Odi captain

In England, Shubman Gill started his home run with a whitewash against the West Indians, drawing the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy 2-2. Recently, India Clean swept the mind in the West Primary test row at home.

Now the Punjab boy is off to a strong start as Odi captain in Australia, the first Odi, as the first Odi will continue in Perth on October 19.

The second and final ODIs are scheduled for October 23 and 25 at the Adelaide Oval and the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), respectively. After the Odi leg, the Suryakumar Yadav-led Blues will face Australia in a three-match T20I series starting on October 29 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is once again melting hearts with a nice gesture before India leave for Australia. While sitting in the front seat of the team bus, he saw a young man holding a poster in an RCB jersey. Kohli immediately called security to bring the poster and signed it and proudly handed it over to an overjoyed fan outside the bus.

Well, the Australia tour marks the much awaited return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to international cricket after eight months. India were last seen in action in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in the UAE in Traffic.
