What is the envelope rule? it Ryder Cup Protocol If one is unable to play Sunday bachelors due to damage. Instead of a team that cost the point, the parties agreed that each captain, before the event, chose a player to sit – and the name of this player will be placed in an envelope just to be discovered in the emergency case.

Is now in the game, as Team Europe announced Hovland Would not play Sunday due to a neck injury. In response, the envelope was opened, the name of English was revealed, and each team was given half a point, making a total score 12-5 in favor of Europe.

Envelope became an opportunity After Hovland left the game Saturday afternoon with four balls and replaced by Tyrrell Hatton. Hovland played on Saturday morning, but after the match, he took the sedative in the 7th hole on Saturday and received physio treatment in the 10th hole. He said he then hit the shots in the post -match string, and he felt he could not play on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday night, according to a statement by Ryder Cup, Hovland had a MRI in a nearby hospital, then woke up on Sunday morning unable to move his neck. He tried to warm up, but his movement was limited and it was decided that he could not go.

“I didn’t want to risk it for the match if it worsened and couldn’t go on,” Hovland told reporters on Saturday, “especially in four cannons when you are hitting every blow. I had to withdraw from the travelers’ championship earlier due to the same issue. Then, not as bad.

“I’m going to get a treatment this afternoon and tonight and I hope I will be good for bachelors tomorrow.”

Twice, ‘envelope’ has been in the game.

In 1991, American Steve suffered ribs in a car accident a few days before the incident. He sat down on Saturday afternoon, but regenerated the damage and the call was made he couldn’t go on Sunday – and David Gilford’s name withdrew from the envelope.

Two years later, a European was injured. Sam Torrance was dealing with an infected toe, and he had to sit on Sunday – but this time, American Lanny Wadkins volunteer, and the envelope never opened.
