Turki Alalshikh today revealed that he met with superstar Canelo Alvarez and confirmed with him that he had two more fights left on his contract with the Riyadh season. He offered Canelo to work with him until he retires.
The out fall of a humiliating loss
The two remaining battles that Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 COs) have on his contract with the Riyadh season is expected to take place in May and September 2026. No opponents were mentioned. Ideally speaking, which is Canelo (35) needs, fighters who are aggressive are coming forward and not moving around the ring.
In Canelo’s 12-round unanimous loss of decision to Terence Crawford last Saturday night at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, he struggled to cut the ring on him. Crawford would land and then take off. It was the same style that William Scull used against Canelo on May 3, but with slightly more offended and less power.
If Canelo wins his next two fights in 2026, it is possible that he may choose to continue his career in 2027. It will depend on many things. He must match the right type of fighters to win next year. It would be the same with the outdated Crawford.
If Turki Crawford has pushed hard to fight David Banavidez or Dmitri Bivolol, he will probably lose for both. He would be the one who would be unhappy but richer. Crawford has already excluded today to fight benavidez.
The dignity stripped away
In Canelo’s case, he chose not to say no to Turki, even though it was a bad style for him fighting against the Mover Crawford. Not just that. It put Alvarez in a position where he would be humiliated if he lost, and that’s what happened. He still chose to fight Crawford, but it came at a high cost, with his dignity stripped away.
I just visited the champion in his place. He will soon start his holiday with his family. He has 2 more battles left @Ranhsason in ’26. We offered him to work with us until he stops and retires. I want to say a special thank you @Canelo for the special gift. He got me the … pic.twitter.com/7vqrz3deoi
