Terence Crawford says he is now the ‘face of boxing’ after his razor-naby-one-wrench decision on Canelo Alvarez this past weekend in Las Vegas.
With the title he gave himself, he probably wants the kind of payment that Canelo (63-3-2, 39 COs) has received regularly over the past year.
Entertainment value zero
For example, in his title defense of his undisputed Super Middleweight Championships against Crawford last Saturday, the Mexcan star received a wallet that it was $ 150 million. In contrast, Crawford allegedly received $ 50 million.
The question is: Will Turki Alalshikh and or other promoters be prepared to pay Crawford (42-0, 31 cost) the kind of money that Canelo received? Terence’s actions against Alvarez and his opponent for that, Israel Madrimov, were not exciting to look at.
This involved a lot of movement by Crawford and some shots here and there. The only round of the fight where Crawford was busy to any extent was the ninth, and it was only brief.
The undercard fighters, Christian Milli and Lester MartinezIn my opinion, it was much more entertaining to look at. They put it on the line. We didn’t see it from Crawford. So, to be the face of boxing, you have to entertain, and Crawford has come well from the brand against Canelo and Madrimov.
Paid for a ppv -dud
‘Canelo is a big time. He is the last one. There are no more Canelo’s, ‘Crawford said Ring magazine. “When you look around, you say, ‘I’m the Canelo. ‘ I’m the face of box ‘ now. I am the best pound-for-pound warrior in the world, as I have always been. ‘
Is Crawford the face of box? Without Turki Alalshikh, I do not believe that Crawford would earn near the same kind of money he received in his last two fights on Turki’s cards. Which promoter will pay for Crawford too much to give the PPV events that give money money if the income does not match what he paid?
The risky avoidance of struggle
Without Turki, Crawford would have to take a lot more risks than he took by fighting against the guys that his coach, Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre, excluded last Sunday as options for him to fight next, David Benavidez and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. These are the types of battles that Crawford would be forced to fight if he wants to make money without all of all sitting his career. These fighters:
- Dmitri BIVOL
- David benavidez
- David Morrell
The movement that Crawford used against Canelo last Saturday would not be enough to play away from the above three fighters. I believe that they would come to Him regularly enough to get their pound of flesh.
Again, it would be the types of fighters Crawford should face if Turki Alalshikh was not involved in his career, which allowed him to fight guys like Madrimov and a faded Canelo instead of the risky fights against younger fighters.
A victim’s story
“All the time, They blocked me, said I won’t fight anyone. I can’t beat this guy. Each time I get a chance, I wiped the floor with them, ” says Crawford at the Press conference after battle Last Saturday.
“Just think about where I would be today if I got the opportunities a long time ago,” says Crawford.
It sounds like Bud is Play the victim Here, bitterly for no reason, and not to see the reality of his career. If Crawford wanted the opportunities for big fights, he should have moved up to 154, 160 or 168 earlier in his career when he waited for the matches he wanted at 147. It was the only section Crawford had to wait for battles.
Crawford is not taken out at 135 or 140. There is no blocking on Crawford at lightweight and light welter weight. He fought against world champions Ricky Burns and Julius Indongo.
Crawford did not sweep the floor with Israel Madrimov, nor did he do it with Canelo Alvarez. It was not unilateral fights. In both competitions, Terence won with some 115-113 scores and one Oddball 116-112. It was very close battles where a lot of movement of Crawford was involved, which fought a lot of the time because of the power benefits Madrimov and Canelo had above him.
He was not blocked
For Crawford who captured two undisputed championships at 140 and 147 Surely got opportunities. He was put on the top rank by his former promoters to fight for the world titles to become a four-champion champion at light welter weight and welter weight.
If Crawford had truly not given the chances of major battles, he would be blocked to fight for the belts.
The other thing is that the reason why Crawford did not get the fights he initially wanted at 147, which is the only section he was forced to wait on opportunities is because he was with another promoter.
Bud was with a top rank, while the fighters he faced, Shawn Porter, Jaron Ennis, Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia with PBC. He wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao, but his focus was more on more popular fighters with them were both with the best rank. Crawford has never been a popular fighter with mainstream fans for two reasons:
A boring show
- Reserved personality: Crawford has never been a big speaker who receives attention from boxing fans like other fighters who talk to their fans to show that they want to fight.
- Smooth goat style: Fans prefer to see brawlers standing and trading with their opponents, not smooth boxers who hit and run. Last Saturday’s performance by Crawford against Canelo Alvarez was a perfect example for why he had never been a must-see TV. Crawford spent much of the fight moving the ring, not being poignant, and trying not to be hit. In short, it was boring, especially compared to the under map fight between Christian Billi and Lester Martinez.
