Danielle Collins’ 2025 campaign is over, but the pain continues.

2024 champion Miami Open and Charleston, who has been fighting a back injury, shared her that she had to make her last hospital visits and is continuing her recovery.

“It has been the worst of the worst being a million miles away from home, feeling sick, my back simply killing me and being at all hours of the night,” posted Collins on Instagram. “I don’t know what I would have done without my friends @isabeau_ruiter AND @Menno_de_grote If they weren’t there to help you take care of me in recent days.

“Take me to the hospital, directing me to get in with the right doctor, making me food, bringing me tea, laying on the living room with me as I looked like, going on small walks with me, and being so understanding when I would say I had to put back in the car to put my best in my back.

Collins, which has both endometriosis and rheumatoid arthritis, has suffered from a hernia disc. The injury influenced her service and left Collins unable to transport her races bag outside the court after her open loss of Cincinnati to friend Taylor Townsend last month. Townsend carried Collins’s bag for him after the match was over.

31-year-old Floridian suffered a 6-2 loss, 6-0 Romania Jaqueline Cristian in the first round of US Open last month. Although Collins initially planned to withdraw at the end of 2024, she suggested that she would return to the WTA tour in 2026 if she could recover her health.
